1. Who We Are

Undertone Atlas is an anonymous public opinion platform. We ask one question: "What is humanity's biggest problem?" Visitors vote, and results are visualized on a live globe. We are not a company, not a research institution, not affiliated with any government or international organization.

2. What We Collect

We collect the absolute minimum data required for the platform to function:

• Country code — automatically detected from your IP address using ipapi.co. The IP itself is never stored.
• Vote category — which of the issues you selected.
• Age range — only if you choose to share it (optional, you can skip). Five brackets: 18-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55+.
• Timestamp — when you voted (for live feed).
• Browser fingerprint — an irreversible hash of your browser characteristics, used only to prevent duplicate voting. This cannot be reverse-engineered to identify you.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses
• User accounts — we don't have any
• IP addresses — we never store them
• Tracking cookies or pixels
• Analytics data (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel)
• Advertising data
• Social media profiles
• Payment information
• Precise location data (only country)

4. Why We Process This Data

The purpose is simple: to visualize global public opinion on major issues. Our legal basis under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) is legitimate interest — making anonymous public opinion accessible to everyone.

Because we process no personal data in the strict sense, we fall largely outside the scope of GDPR and KVKK enforcement. However, we still follow these laws as best practices.

5. How Long We Keep Data

Because the data is anonymous and cannot identify you, we keep it indefinitely. Aggregated vote counts are part of the platform's public record.

If you want your browser fingerprint removed (so you can vote again, or exit our anti-duplicate system), email us and we will remove it — though we cannot guarantee we can locate a specific fingerprint without more context.

6. Who Can See This Data

• Firebase (Google) — our database provider. Servers located in Belgium (europe-west1). Subject to Google's Data Processing Agreement.
• Cloudflare — our hosting and DDoS protection provider.
• ipapi.co — third-party service used for country detection. They see the IP, return the country, we never store the IP.
• Everyone — aggregated vote counts (country totals, category totals) are public on the website.

We do not sell, rent, or share data with advertisers, analytics companies, or third parties beyond the above infrastructure providers.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / KVKK)

Even though we don't collect personal data, you have the following rights:

• Right of access — ask us what data we hold related to you (we likely hold nothing we can identify)
• Right to erasure — ask us to delete any data (via email)
• Right to object — tell us to stop processing
• Right to lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Age range collection is strictly limited to 18+ brackets. If you are a parent and believe your child has used the site, please contact us.

9. International Users

Undertone Atlas is accessible worldwide. By using the site, you acknowledge that your data may be processed in countries where our infrastructure providers operate (Google Cloud Europe, Cloudflare global CDN). We do not transfer data to jurisdictions with weaker data protection standards.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Major changes will be announced on the homepage.
